Decision Between a Scooter or Motorcycle

This is one of the best times you could have possibly chosen to buy a scooter or motorcycle.  No matter how high the gas prices go, you probably just want to save gas and not use as much.  Whether you want to help the environment or save your wallet, it's just a good all around decision.  You can use a moped or power bike to replace one of your vehicles you no longer need or you may want to just use your new scooter for trips to work and close trips.

Motorcycles are much cheaper than a lot of people think they are.  Just because they can be loud and throaty does not mean they can't save you a ton of money on gas too.  Make sure you get a good insurance rate for your bike, which can often be as cheap as $10-$20 per month.

So how much gas CAN you save with a motorcycle?

Well, the average bike can get you around 80 miles per gallon.  Not too shabby hah?  This will depend a lot of the size of the engine and what you are looking for in a bike, but if you main concern is just saving on gas, you can find just that at any bike store.

If you have never driven a motorcycle before it may take a little while before you can go all out on it.  Ride it slowly and get a feel for it before you try to go too fast or on the highway.  It's better to make those little mistakes when you are going 5mph as opposed to 70.

A gas powered scooter will also take a little bit of a learning curve, but I have found these to be much easier to pick up, and many of the new ones have some great safety features too.

There are 150cc to 250cc scooters that can outright fly on the roads.  These will require some insurance too, but they offer a very smooth drive and plenty of power for most situations.  And scooters do get slightly better gas mileage at up tp 120 miles to the gallon for the really frugal rides.

Getting gas mileage that is this good will make it seem like you don't have to pay for gas at all.  Which I am sure will be a very welcome feeling to have.

After getting a scooter or motorcycle you will probably not want to even bother with your other vehicle anymore unless it get's really cold out.
